Flirtation ‘tween Universes

Let us be held in
the reverent thought
that there still is

no reality but Allah!
I smile when I write
these expressive lines

So we both recall
to speak silence lest
we desolately find

the flirtation ‘tween
universes gone anew
to the Void Station.

Surrender has filled us
with Divine Love;
like prophesied

in the Holy Scriptures
all shall will be brought
into His Presence.

The Sublime Sphere

Seeing the Heart

::: I attended a wedding where I saw and met beautiful people from various cultures so it was a different kind of experience.

At the table I was sitting, I saw one of the most impressive demeanor I had seen ever in a stranger: a Muslim brother was there with his family, throughout the celebration he had this really poised, dignified demeanor I couldn’t help smiling at the spectacle! Yes it was a spectacle in my eyes, it made me proud to see him with this noble posture, seeming completely immersed in the light of Islam.

This is the kind of experience that verifies that for many the practice of Islam has a multidimensional impact upon them. I believe that in order for the external being to convey such a beautiful spiritual energy, it must imply that it’s the reflection of a blessed, prostrated inner life.

There is some grace, a spiritual royalty that the sincere Muslim wears like a garment which is beyond amazing and which invites to inquire about Islam itself. Maybe it’s because I do not go out much but such a sight is so rare to me I had to mention it, Allahu Akbar! :::

Power of Art in Islam

::: A heart that is submitted to Allah (swt), a Muslim heart is a creative heart. Creativity is a manifestation of Intelligence. Islam recommands its followers to nurture their intelligence and to share its fruits within respect of the Divine Law. Art created in this light is a form of dawah, it can help dissipate all the current, widespread misconceptions about Islam.

Muslim parents should encourage their children to express their artistic talents. We do not realize how powerful art that celebrates the teachings of the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad (swt) is! Such art has a an extremely powerful, timeless impact upon those who experience it.

The most read, celebrated enlightened poets of this world were Muslim. It’s interesting to observe the impact their work has had upon those who denigrate Islam. They may have a negative outlook on Islam and thrive to promote this negativity with the help of the media yet it doesn’t change the fact that they’re in complete awe of the Muslim genius which obviously is a testimony to an Islam that is of beauty, purity, majesty, peace, egolessness, grace, universality and tolerance.

I believe in encouraging creativity in the Ummah as it invites non-Muslims to know the spectrum of Islam that is “omitted” by the medias. With time, I hope to discover more and more Muslim artists who proudly honor the divine beauty of Islam through their work. Everything starts with children, let us encourage our Muslim children to express their talents.

“Allah (swt) is beautiful and He loves beauty.”
-Prophet Muhammad (saw) :::

Reversed Flow

::: My time has been consumed with making new paintings… Usually I would first write a poem and then I would paint to its dormant impressions yet lately it’s been the other way around it seems, conclusion: I’ll be back soon … inshAllah… :::

Martyred Children Lament (the poem)

Child, O child,
you are a gift
from the Divine!

They coveted your light
with their ambition
for obscure ascension.

Atrociously, they preyed
on you: there is no power
to gain in such sacrifice,

One who unjustly takes a life
kills all of humankind.
Child, O child,

now bodiless, weightless,
you circle around
the sublime Throne;

soul singing His praises
as Djibreel wipes
your tears away.
